I was a Junior in college. It was the 3rd day of classes and hundreds of students were buzzing around campus. My roommate, Steve, and I were walking around, each with a notebook and pen. Our goal was to explain Party.0 (party-point-oh) in 25 seconds and get as many phone numbers as possible. By the end of that day we had met 129 people and 120 of them wanted to attend our sober parties. This was the start of Party.0 and we had no idea what it would turn into.
After just one month of throwing sober house parties, we had over 150 students coming, sponsors from nationally known brands and media coverage across our home-state of Wisconsin. More importantly, we learned that 9 out of 10 college students are interested in our sober events. Since then we have passed on this movement to other students and are continuing to spread “sober parties” to new schools.
We believe that every student deserves a place to belong, meet new people and have fun, even if they don’t want to drink or do drugs. You are not defined by what you buy or consume.
Party.0 should not be mistaken as an alcohol prevention campaign, campus club or anti-drinking movement. We are a collection of students who want to have fun without drinking or doing drugs. My job as the Executive Director of Party.0 Inc. is to support any students who want to gather people in a sober environment.
Just as we invited all those students into our house for our first sober party, I’d like to invite you to become a part of our movement. Whether you are a student, parent, community member or business owner, you can help us provide events that don’t revolve around mind altering substances. You can help us spread sober parties across the country and to your community.
Please subscribe to our email list and stay up to date on opportunities, stories and ways you can help.
Party.0n,
-Jake White
